There are a range of ways to undertake the Co-Creating Safe and Enjoyable Meals for People with Swallowing Disability training. If you prefer some guidance from a qualified trainer, then look at the full day interactive workshop. With this option, a speech pathologist will deliver the training, guiding discussions and answer your questions. If you are good at self-directed learning, and want to work through the course at your own pace then check out the self-paced option below.

UTS OPEN FULL DAY INTERACTIVE WORKSHOP (6 HOURS)

The Co-Creating Safe and Enjoyable Meals UTS Open Training Course is a full day interactive workshop for the UTS Open Certificate taught by a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist. It is designed for people who work with people with dysphagia, supervisors, managers, allied health professionals, direct support workers who work with people with severe dysphagia, support a lot of people with dysphagia (i.e., with diverse needs), support coaches or others who support people with dysphagia, or are involved in training or policy development. The next training workshop is on 12th February 2024 and registrations open soon!

Other dates for 2024 are: Monday 11th March, Monday 8 April, Monday 13 May 2024.

UTS OPEN ONLINE SELF-PACED COURSE (8 HOURS)

COMING SOON: The Co-Creating Safe and Enjoyable Meals Self-Paced UTS Open course is free and accessible via UTS Open. This training aims to improve the knowledge, skills, and confidence of any person involved in providing food, drinks, or mealtime assistance to people with swallowing disability. It is a self-directed course online can be completed at any time over a one month time period. By working your way through all the activities and passing the quizzes, you will receive a UTS Open Certificate of Attendance. This training is in development.

NDIS QUALITY & SAFEGUARDS COMMISSION ONLINE SELF-PACED (1.5 HOURS)

Do you want to increase your basic skills in mealtime assistance? You can do a free online module developed by the NDIS Quality & Safeguards Commission and takes about 1.5 hours to complete. Called Supporting Safe and Enjoyable Meals it is self-directed with no trainer, and can be done at any time, by anyone. It’s a very good introduction with simulations, scenarios, and questions. It follows the same topics and sequence, in a very short format, as the Co-Creating Safe and Enjoyable Meals for People with Swallowing Disability workshop. FIND OUT MORE
